
Bill Ritter, Jr., was elected as Colorado's 41st governor in 2006 -- the first Colorado-born governor in more than 35 years. A former district attorney in Denver, Gov. Ritter and his wife, Jeannie operated a food distribution and nutrition center in Zambia, Africa, from 1987 to1990. His interests in Colorado include renewable energy, business development and job creation, and K-12 education reforms. He is also working to modernize Colorado’s transportation system, protect natural treasures and improve the way state government does business. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Colorado State University, and his law degree from the University of Colorado.
